It also arrested one accused who happened to be same person who sold the Verna car to the complainant. It was further revealed that the accused namely Mohd Rafiq, S/o Bashir Ahmed R/o Broindhai Hatli Kathua recently purchased a brand new Verna black coloured car and intentionally used the same number.
Police is also seeking clarification from concerned authority in this regard to ascertain the truth to find the malicious intension of accused in intentionally using the same registration number.
RTO, Lakhanpur. Raj Kumar Thappa told Excelsior that police is investigating the matter and facts will come to fore after investigation is over. He said out of two cars one has used fake number and what was motive behind it will come to light only after investigation.
He said in J&K there is High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) which after being approved by RTO is given to the contractor for fixing the same on the vehicle. This is the unique number and two vehicles can’t have the same number. So it is obvious that one vehicle has used the fake number, he added.
