JAMMU, June 9: Two farmers of border village Karol in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district sat on indefinite fast in the village from today demanding compensation to the farmers whose land has come under the fencing area.
The two farmers Tarseem Lal and Bodh Raj said that they will continue the fast till the demand is met. They alleged that the Government failed to fulfill its promise and provide compensation to farmers of this border belt whose land has come under fencing area despite the fact that they are not allowed to cultivate this land.
They said this way the border farmers have been put to a heavy loss and they were left with no alternative but to start hunger strike.
