JAMMU, Nov 26: Two books of Australian author, Bill K Koul were released, here today at a function organized at Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER).
The chief guest on the occasion was Prof Rajni Dhingra, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu and Dr Rekha Koul, Dean International, Faculty of Humanities, Curtin University, Australia, was the guest of honour.
The two books, namely “A Bouquet of Random Thoughts” and “Does India Need A Dictator to Rescue a Sinking Ship” were released by the chief guest and the guests of honour.
According to Bill K Koul, the first book provides the author’s thoughts about life, humanism, education, gender equality, politics, liveability and sustainability of the world as an assortment of articles, passages, one-liners, and poems, wrapped with a number of thoughtful and beautiful illustrations. The second book focuses on India’s sustainability. The author believes the current political infrastructure in India is inadequate in truly addressing the issues that seriously undermine the country–increasing population, dwindling liveability, environmental degradation, corruption, poor education of the masses, poverty etc. He believes a significant transformation in the political infrastructure is necessary to address those issues.
Dr Adit Gupta, Director MIER introduced the author as an engineering consultant by profession, a humanist and philosopher by nature, and a writer by passion. He is a Fellow and Chartered Professional Engineer of Engineers Australia, Fellow of Australian Institute of Management and an APEC accredited engineer.
On the occasion, Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman MIER, presented review of the book, ‘Does India Need A Dictator’, and said that the book presents the internal feelings, voice and frustration of the author seeing the state of affairs in India. He is concerned about how India will survive if her leaders refuse to talk about the burning issues such as over population, rights of women, uniform civil code, religious fragmentation, or corruption that eating away the vital resources. The book also touches the issues in Kashmir and their root cause.
The review of the second book, ‘A Bouquet of Random Thoughts’, was presented by Dr Renu Gupta Vice Chairperson MIER. She said Mr Bill through his thought process has discussed about life, humanism, education, gender equality, politics liveability, and sustainability even the very survival of our world .
