2 bikers on pilgrimage killed in road accident

UDHAMPUR, Apr 9: In a tragic road mishap, two motorcyclists on pilgrimage to Sukrala Mata on first Navratra, were knocked to death by a speeding truck near Dhudar Nallah, here this morning.
In the accident, which took place around 7 am, one each pillion rider on both the motorcycles, also sustained critical injuries. They are undergoing treatment at Government Medical College Hospital Jammu. Click here to watch video
The deceased have been identified as Rahul Singh (27), son of Rasal Singh, resident of Badolla and Shubam Samotra son of Sham Lal of Badolla.
The injured pillion riders, identified as Ajay, son of Chet Ram of Lard in Ramnagar and Sunil Kumar son of Tara Chand of Badolla, were first shifted to District Hospital Udhampur and later referred to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of serious injuries.

The accident took place when four youth riding two bikes, bearing registration number JK14G-9428 and JK14J-5462 were on way to Sukrala Mata temple for paying obeisance on the very first day of ‘Chaitra Navratri’. Both the bikes were hit by a Kashmir-bound truck bearing registration number JK05F7550 near Dhudar Nallah, resulting into on the spot death of two motorcyclists and serious injuries to the pillion riders.
Police have arrested driver of the truck, identified as Ab Qayoom, son of Gulam Mohd of Tapper Baramulla. A case in this connection has been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
