1st anniversary of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ celebrated

JAMMU, Oct 1: In connection with 1st anniversary of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, various programmes and awareness rallies were organized in different parts of the State.
As a part of week-long clean Jammu City Abhiyan to mark the 1st Anniversary of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) on 6th day in a row organized a programme at Trikuta Nagar, Jammu with the co-operation of Trikuta Nagar Welfare Association and Trikuta Nagar Development Council.
On this occasion, an awareness rally on ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ was flagged off by Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member Parliament and by Mandeep Kaur, Commissioner, JMC. The rally comprising of students from various Government schools and volunteers of Sulabh International started from Mini Market Trikuta Nagar which after passing through the main Bazar culminated at JDA Park Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
In the park, a colourful cultural programme was organized, where Kavinder Gupta, J&K Legislative Assembly, was the chief guest. While addressing the gathering, Gupta emphasized that it is the duty of everyone to contribute in the ongoing awareness programme for making the Jammu Clean.
PDP MLC, Firdoos Ahmed Tak today launched the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ in Government Degree College Kishtwar. Principal Incharge of the college along with faculty members and other staff was present on the occasion. He along with students swept the college ground. Later, the MLC visited the college library and took stocks of the problems. He further assured the college authorities of managing the sitting infrastructure for the library, as the college authorities demanded for the same.
On the eve of 1st anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, BJP State spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, in a statement said that the tremendous response from the people to this campaign is the indicator of the fact that the people have realized the importance of pollution free environment. Stressing that each of us should keep our surroundings clean, Balbir said that only clean Bharat can attract more visitors from various from various parts of the world, who often avoid visiting India because of unhygienic conditions prevailing in the country.
In connection with 1st anniversary of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, Kalidhar Brigade today organized a cleanliness drive at Higher Secondary School, Bajabain in Sunderbani. In all, students from eleven schools participated in this sanitation drive and expressed their opinion on the issue of cleanliness. The students prepared and displayed colourful boards showing their innovative ideas on methods to maintain cleanliness of their surroundings. The students also took to the streets and picked up the waste and garbage and disposed it in dustbins and were joined by the locals.
Scientia International School, Bantalab (Jammu) today organized a road show on ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ from school premises to Bantalab Chowk to create awareness among the vicinity of the school and local people. A small nukkad was also presented before the people to create awareness among the masses.
On the occasion of 1st anniversary of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, the residents of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Enclave, Trikuta Nagar (Jammu) today held a meeting where the issues of cleanliness were discussed. All the participants pledged to keep their locality clean and also aware other people on cleanliness and ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.
