JAMMU, May 8: A 19-year-old youth drowned today in a rivulet at Dansal Bagge area of city outskirts.
“Vishal Kumar (19) son of Makhan Lal, a resident of House No 7, Chakki Wali Gali, Janipur, drowned in a rivulet in Jhajjar Kotli area of city outskirts”, police sources said, adding the incident happened this evening when a group of youth from Janipur area had gone to take a bath in the rivulet.
“As the victim did know the swimming, he drowned in the rivulet which was deep enough at the spot where he entered into the waters to take bath”, they said and added that the other youth in the group also did not know swimming so they could not save him.
They said as soon as locals came to know of the drowning, they searched for the youth in the rivulet but found his dead body late in the evening. “The body of the deceased youth was shifted to mortuary room of Government Hospital, Dansal for post mortem”, police sources said, adding a case in this connection was registered at police station Jhajjar Kotli and proceedings initiated under 174 CrPC.
