19 injured in two road accidents

JAMMU, July 26: Nineteen people were injured today in two separate road accidents in city outskirts.
The first mishap occurred around 12:30 AM near TCP Nagrota in which 13 ‘Sevadars’ of a langer organized at Jakhani Chowk (Chenani) were injured when a truck bearing registration number JK21B-4603 in which they were travelling towards Jammu, plunged in a roadside gorge.
Immediately after the mishap, the Nagrota police swung into action and launched a rescue operation. All the injured persons were evacuated from the damaged vehicle and shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment.
The injured persons were identified as Akash (17) son of Ashok, Gurjand (18) son of Pyara Singh, Baljeet Singh (29) son of Bhor Singh, Sahil (19) son of Prem Kumar, Akash (19) son of Nathu Ram, Raju (29) son of Jaswant Singh, Veeru (26) son of Harbans Lal, Ajay (22) son of Vijay Kumar, Mangat (21) son of Puran Ram, Virender Kumar (28) son of Sawroop Singh, Arun (20) son of Narinder Kumar, Monu (31) son of Madan and Sukhchain (25) son of Darshan Singh, all residents of Ferozopur (Punjab). The Nagrota police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
The second accident took place around 1 AM at Machine Domana on Jammu-Akhnoor Road in which an ambulance collided with a truck coming from opposite side. The ill fated ambulance was carrying a newborn female baby, her mother and their attendants to a hospital in Jammu from Poonch.
All the persons travelling in the ambulance received injuries in the mishap. They were immediately shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment. The injured were identified as Nazia Kouser (23) wife of Mohd Junaid of Surankote, Rab Niwas (18) son of Mohd Sadiq of Poonch, Razia Bi (45) wife of Mohd Sadiq of Poonch, Mohd Junaid (28) son of Abdul Qayoom of Surankote, Mohd Akram (35) son of Gulam Nabi of Poonch and a 7-day-old female baby of Junaid.
In this connection, Domana police had registered a case and started investigations.
