18 passengers injured in road mishap

SAMBA, July 3: Eighteen passengers were injured, six of them seriously after the matador they were traveling turned turtle at Rakh Matali near here, today.
According to police the matador bearing number JK02 T2395 was on its way from Samba to Rajpora. The matador was in high speed and when it reached near Rakh Matali a cow came from front side. The driver tried to apply brake to save the cow but he lost control on the steering and the vehicle turned turtle resulting into injury to 18 passengers, police added.
Police said the six passengers have received serious injuries and they were rushed to GMC Hospital, Jammu for specialized treatment while the 12 passengers were admitted in DH Samba.
The driver of the matador identified as Parshotam Singh alias Deepa fled from the spot after jumping from the matador. The Samba police has registered a case against the driver under relevant sections of the law and launched a man hunt to arrest him.
The 12 passengers admitted in DH Samba are out of danger while six injured in GMC are in a critical state.
