UDHAMPUR, June 4: Foiling separate attempts of bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police today rescued 18 animals and arrested 4 smugglers.
Based on reliable information, a Police party of Police Station Chenani laid a surprise naka at NHW. During the checking, one truck bearing registration number JK02AF-4165 and one Mahindra load carrier, bearing registration number JK02BK-3858, which was on way from Jammu towards Srinagar, was found loaded with 14 bovines. Police rescued the animals and arrested the accused drivers, who were identified as Sher Ali son of Mohd. Musa of Jhirhi, Kanachak, Jammu and Yahud Khan son of Mohd. Rashid of Jhirhi Kanachak Jammu. Police also seized both the vehicles and registered a case in this regard, under relevant sections of law, at P/S Chenani.
In another case, a Police party from Police Post Tikri, while conducting surprise checking of vehicles at NHW, intercepted one Mahindra load carrier bearing Registration number JK02B- 3056. During the search, four bovine animals were found loaded inside the vehicle. Police rescued the animals and arrested the accused persons Makhan son of Yousaf of Bishnah Jammu and Kaka Hussain son of Mangat Ali of Bishna Jammu. A case FIR No. 81/2017 was registered under the relevant sections of law at P/S Rehmbal. The vehicle involved was also seized and further investigation is going on.
