KATHUA, May 11: Seventeen students and three staff members of Kartar Public School Barnoti near here were injured when a school mini bus carrying them to home from school met with an accident near to the school. The incident took place at around 3.00 PM today when the school bus bearing registration number JK08B 6269 carrying students and school staff was on way from Barnoti to Kathua.
Reports said that bus which was on way to Kathua via National Highway was hit by a loaded truck bearing number JK02AU 4235 coming from link road. It hit the bus on the driver side. Truck driver fled away from the spot.
The injured students were identified as Jaspreet Simran S/o Sardar Manmeet Singh from Sawan Chack, Antrika D/o Ajay Sharma from Lachipur, Vishal S/o Tirth Ram from Bagyal, Harpreet Kour D/o Varinder Singh from Kathua, Isha S/o Dildar R/o Lachipur, Akshit S/o Jevanjyoti R/o Govindser, Sapna D/o Ashok from Bagyal, Diya Sharma D/o Mohanlal from Palli Morh, Ishmeet S/o Manjeet Singh from Lachipur, Krishna S/o Suresh Kumar from Janglote, Vineet S/o Tirth Ram from Chack Sada Bagyal, Kanav S/o Nareshpal R/o Kathua, Shilpa D/o Dyal Chand from Palli Morh, Raghav Ansh S/o Mohanlal from Palli Morh, Mohit S/o Ashok Kumar from Janglote, Kirti Hans D/o Rajkumar from Bagyal Morh and school staff were identified as Radha W/o Manoj Kumar from Kathua, Smita W/o Sanjay from CTM Kathua, Rajkarni W/o Ashok Kumar from CTM Hatli Morh. All injured persons were shifted to District Hospital Kathua where first aid was given to the students. Few of them were discharged after that.
Two students who had suffered multiple injuries were shifted to Amritsar, Punjab by the parents.
Police registered the FIR under relevant Section and starts the investigation.
