17 bovines rescued, accused arrested

RAJOURI, July 8: The police foiled a major bovine smuggling bid and seized a truck loaded with 17 cattle in Rajouri area last night.
Official sources said that during night hours police party from Rajouri under the close supervision of SHO Rajouri Fareed Ahmed, during naka at the Salani bridge intercepted a truck which was moving towards Poonch. Patrolling party gave signal to stop but truck driver fled away from the spot by rash and negligent driving. The truck driver also damaged public property along the road when police was chasing truck.
Later, on interception the vehicle with registration number JK12A- 2805 was found loaded with 17 bovine animals being smuggled. The accused river was arrested.
The animals were tied with ropes in an improper and very cruel manner without food and water and there was no requisite permission with the driver.
In this connection, cognizance has been taken up and a case FIR No. 365/2022 u/s279/336/188IPC 11PC Act 3 PPD Act got registered in Police Station Rajouri.
