UDHAMPUR, May 5: Foiling attempts of bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police today rescued 167 bovines and arrested sevcn smugglers.
Team of Police Post Tikri, led by PSI Sahil Chib, IC PP Tikri, foiled three bovine smuggling bids in which 70 bovines were rescued from three different vehicles bearing Registration No JK03N 4165, JK05L-3972 and JK03C- 9318 .
Police also arrested driver of the trucks, identified as Zaber Mir, son of Abdul Majid Mir of Mir Bazar, Anantnag, Jamsheed Ahmed son of Mohd Ashma Dar of Baramulla and Mohd Younis Shah, son of Ghulam Ali Shah of Banihal.
Three case FIRs under relevant sections of law have been registered in this connection in Police Station Rehambal.
Another bovine smuggling attempt was foiled by Police team of Police Station Rehambal, led by SHO Nishad Ahmed SHO PS Rehambal. Police rescued 35 bovines from two vehicles bearing registration number JK03F-2475 and JK03D- 9898.
Drivers of both the vehicles disclosed their identities as Jignu son of Mohd Iqbal of Banihal and Ghafoor Ahmed son of Manzoor Ahmed of Chanderkot, Ramban. They were arrested on the spot and both the vehicles were also seized.
In this connection, two more case FIR under relevant sections of law have been registered in PS Rehambal.
Meanwhile, team of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Raghubir Singh Choudhary, foiled two more bovine smuggling bids in Jakheni area and rescued 62 bovines from two vehicles bearing Registration Number JK19A-8765 and JK05M-2726.
Drivers of both the vehicles, identified as Shoket Ali, son of Mohd Iqbal of Hanjea Swawa, Doda & Aafaq Hussain son of Habib Ullah of Hali Kree, District Baramulla were arrested.
Two separate FIRs under relevant sections of law have been registered in this connection at Police Station Udhampur.
