POONCH, June 17: At least 16 persons were injured when a mini-bus met with an accident near Shahpur in district Poonch this morning.
A police spokesman said that the mishap took place at around 10.45 am when the ill-fated vehicle No. JK12A/ 4733 was on way to Shahpur-Islamabad from Poonch city. When the vehicle was nearing Shapur, the driver lost control on it and the vehicle was rolled down into the gorge.
The people of the area rushed for the rescue and the police team from Poonch also arrived there shortly. All the 16 injured passengers were removed to District Hospital, Poonch. The DC and SSP Poonch also arrived there in the hospital to inquire about the condition of victims and supervise the medical treatment.
The injured were identified as Farzana Kouser (21) and her husband- Maroof Hussain, residents of Dara Fatehpur Mandi; Sarba Bi, wife of Khursheed from Guntrian; Farzana, daughter of Mohd Aslam from Shahpur; Nazia Kouser, daughter of Mushtaq Hussain from Darana; Shameem Akhtar, wife of Mohd Hafiz, resident of Darana; Ifzan Hafiz (4), son of Mohd Hafiz; Gulshan Bi , wife of Waqar Yunis from Lassana; Shamim wife of Mohd Azar from Shahpur; Nazrena Bi, wife of Jamaldin of Shahpur; Abdul Sayed, son of Jalaldin of Shahpur; Mohd Bashir, son of Yousuf from Islamabad; Shameen Atu, wife of Arshed Ahad from Nangali; Shameem, wife of Mohd Azan of Shahpur; Afsana Kouser from Nangali and Mohd Alam, son of Wali Mohd of Islamabad.
The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
