RAJOURI, Sept 4: The police seized 16 bovine animals along with three Tata Mobile vehicles from Fatehpur and Chingus area of Rajouri last night but failed to arrest any smuggler.
Reports said that a police party led by SHO, Rajouri Yashpal Singh Jamwal intercepted two vehicles bearing registration No. JK-11/2441 and JK-11A/1398 and found 12 bovine animals being smuggled towards Kashmir via Mughal Road. While vehicles along with animals were seized, the smugglers/drivers managed to escape, the police said.
Chingus police party led by SI Mohd Fareed seized another Tata Mobile vehicle No. JK-02AG/ 1957 at Kallar and found four bovine animals being smuggled in it. The police seized the vehicle along with animals but claimed that both driver and his associate managed to escape taking cover of darkness.
