16 bovine animals rescued

UDHAMPUR, Jan 20: Udhampur Police today foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 16 animals even as the smuggler managed to flee.
Based on reliable information, Police party of Police Station Rehambal and Police Post Tikri, led by SHO Paramjeet Singh, assisted by SI Pawan Dogra, laid naka at Tikri and signaled a truck JK02AD- 2435 to halt. Seeing the Police party, driver of the truck abandoned the vehicle on the roadside and fled away from the spot by taking advantage of darkness.
During the checking, 16 bovine animals were found illegally loaded in this vehicle. All the bovine animals were rescued on spot and vehicle was seized.
In this connection, a case FIR number 14/2019 U/S 188 RPC 3PCA Act has been registered at PS Rehambal.
