JAMMU, Nov 28: The Forest Department today retrieved 150 kanals of forest land from encroachers at Sangerwani block in Shopian forest division, where Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu’s PRO Junaid Ahmad Lone had yesterday thrashed and abused the Forest officials.
Official sources said on the directions of higher-ups, a strong team of Forest Protection Force (FPF) under the supervision of Deputy Director FPF, Pulwama and Anantnag range, carried out eviction drive in Sangerwani block of Shopian forest division and evicted 7.5 hectares forest land (about 150 kanals) from the land encroachers.
The FPF and territorial field staff jointly carried out the eviction drive that continued throughout the day today without any resistance.
Yesterday, Drabu’s PRO had thrashed and abused a Forest official when the team had gone to evict the encroached land.
