Two die of COVID-19, J&K toll 60

SRINAGAR, June 14 : Two COVID-19 positive persons today died in Kashmir taking the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir to 60 while 148 people including 10 CRPF men, 5 police men and a doctor tested positive in the Valley taking the number of Corona positive cases in J&K past 5000.
An 85-year-old man from Kupwara district today died at a CD hospital Srinagar today. The man was shifted from SMHS hospital to CD hospital after he tested positive for COVID-19.
Doctors attending him said that he was a known case of chronic kidney disease. He was shifted from SMHS hospital yesterday. He was already positive for the COVID-19.
A 76-year old COVID-19 positive man from Srinagar died at SKIMS hospital Soura today.
The man was from Zaina Kadal area of Srinagar was a known case of hypertension and other chronic illnesses with travel history to Saudi Arabia.
His sample was taken at Srinagar Airport last month on 29th. He tested positive and was shifted to JLNM hospital where from he was referred to SKIMS Soura on June 6. He was admitted to infectious disease ward. He died of cardiorespiratory arrest today.
With today’s fatalities, 60 COVID-19 positive people died in Jammu and Kashmir including 53 from Valley. So far Srinagar district with 15 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla 11, Kulgam eight, Anantnag six, five in Shopian, four Kupwara, two each in Pulwama and Budgam while one death has been reported from Bandipora.
Among the fresh positive cases, 92 tested positive at the Virology Laboratories of SKIMS, 11 at SKIMS Medical College hospital Bemina and 45 at CD hospital Srinagar.
The Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that out of 1867 samples processed at the Virology Lab of the hospital, 92 tested positive.
He said that among 92 new cases, 39 are from Shopian, 17 from Kulgam, 15 from Anantnag, 8 from Kupwara, 5 from Srinagar, 3 from Bandipora, 2 each from Baramulla and Pulwama and one from Budgam
The new cases include an 11 month old baby from Srinagar, a doctor from SKIMS, 10 CRPF men besides 5 cops.
An official said that 481 samples were processed at the CD laboratory in Srinagar today out of which 45 tested positive. They include 4 from Srinagar, 28 from Pulwama, 6 Shopian, 2 Kulgam, 2 Baramulla and one Budgam.
Principal SKIMS Medical College Bemina, Dr Reyaz Untoo, told Excelsior that 327 samples from Budgam that were processed at the Virology Lab of the hospital, 9 tested positive while out of 254 samples processed from Shopian district, two tested positive.
He further added that 10 more patients were discharged from the hospital after complete recovery taking tally of discharged patients to 335 while as 99 are still undergoing treatment at the hospital. He said 14 major surgeries of COVID-19 positive pregnant ladies were conducted at the hospital besides that 15 normal deliveries were also managed at the hospital.
As per officials figures, 631 positive cases including 8 deaths and 338 recoveries are from Kulgam, 515 including 11 deaths and 166 recoveries from Baramulla, 525 including 13 deaths and 158 recoveries from Srinagar, 489 including 376 recoveries and 5 deaths from Anantnag, 538 including 294 recoveries and 5 deaths from Shopian, 397 including 287 recoveries and 4 deaths from Kupwara, 239 including 174 recoveries and 1 death from Bandipora, 239 including 112 recoveries and 3 deaths from Budgam, 245 including 33 recoveries and 2 deaths are from Pulwama and 62 including 40 recoveries from Ganderbal.
An employee posted in the e-court, Moominabad District Court Complex, Batamaloo, Srinagar, has tested positive of COVID-19. All the lawyers are accordingly informed that in case any of them have visited e-court and/or have come into contact with him, for the past 20 days, should register his name with the Principal District Judge, Srinagar or General Secretary, High Court Bar Association, Srinagar, for necessary testing.
Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar has constituted a committee of Judicial Officers to collect the list of contacts of the positive COVID 19 patient. The committee members are R N Wattal Special Judge Anti Corruption, Haqnawaz Zargar 4th Additional District and Sessions Judge, Gowhar Majeed Dalal, CJM, Srinagar, Adnan Sayeed, Secretary DLSA, Khem Raj, Sub Judge and Fozia Paul Judicial Magistrate Srinagar.
The officials said that 235,200 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 40,634 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 2593 persons are in hospital isolation while as 31 persons are under hospital quarantine.
According to the bulletin, 139,201 persons have completed surveillance period and 52,682 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 266,163 samples are available
Out of 266,163 the number of samples tested negative stands at 261,122 while as 5041 have been tested positive, among them 2593 are active and 2389 persons have recovered and 59 persons have died.
