14 jawans among 30 hurt in Rajouri, Kud accidents

JAMMU, Nov 18: At least thirty persons including 14 jawans were injured in two separate road accidents in Thannamandi in Rajouri and Kud in Udhampur district today.
Official sources said that at least 16 passengers were injured, three of them seriously when a mini-bus turned turtle in the fields at Nerojal, on Rajouri-Thannamandi road this morning. The vehicle bearing registration No. JK-11/1069 was on its way to Rajouri from Thannamandi. When it reached near Nerojal, the driver lost control on the vehicle due to some mechanical snag and the vehicle rolled down into the field and turned turtle at around 9.30 am.
Residents of the area rushed to the spot. The police also reached there immediately. All the injured were removed to District Hospital, Rajouri. Three of them were later referred to Jammu hospital. The injured were identified as Mohd Shabir (30), resident of Lah, Mohd Alam (65) from Saj, Chhatu (60) from Lah, Mohd Iftar (20) from Lah, Shenaz Akhtar (17) from Kot Bharote, Nadia Kouser (20) from Khablan, Wazir Mohd (50) from Khablan, Wahid-ul-Rehman (28) from Behrote, Allah Ditta (50) from Thannamandi, Maskeen Begum (35) from Kalalkas, Mohd Hussain (50) from Hasplot, Jabeer Maqbool (20) from Plangar, Sajjad Hussain (35) from Saj, Naseem Akhtar (Mehzoor Thanna) and Muneer Khan (40) from Khablan. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
Meanwhile, a report from Udhampur said that 14 Army personnel were injured when their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge near Kud on Jammu -Srinagar National Highway today. The injured jawans of 8 RR including a JCO, were shifted to Military Hospital, Udhampur. They were on their way to Jammu from Srinagar. The injured have been identified as Sumesh Man, Chowan, Mahaiv Appa, Puran Chand, Lakhvinder Singh, Ram Luma, Bikram Singh, Manjunla, Parkash, Sunil Manhas, Siyath, Anujesh Arhi and Amarjeet. Kud police has registered a case in this connection.
