14 ind units shut down as incentives under CIP expire: Govt

JAMMU :  The Government today said all the incentives for industrialisation in the State, that were sanctioned by the Centre, have expired resulting in closure of 14 industrial units.
Replying to a question from National Conference legislator Vijay Bakaya in the Legislative Council here, Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo admitted that all the incentives except Central Excise Exemption and Transport Subsidy, available under the Central Industrial Policy (CIP) – 2002 have expired in June 2012.
After the expiry of central package, 13 units have been closed and one has become sick in the Jammu division of the State, while one such unit which has availed subsidy under the scheme has been closed down in Kashmir division, Kichloo added.
The minister, however, said the State has approached the Central Government for the extension of CIP.
He added that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has also written a letter to the centre seeking extension for another 10 years.
Kichloo further said that they have asked the Centre to sanction a similar package as given to North East in 2007 for Jammu and Kashmir. (AGENCIES)
