14 candidates file papers

SRINAGAR, Nov 18: Fourteen candidates filed their nomination papers from 15 Assembly constituencies of Baramulla, Budgam and Pulwama in Kashmir valley so far taking total number of nominations to 21. These constituencies are voting on December 9 in the third phase of polls.
The District Election Officer Baramulla, Farooq Ahmad Lone told Excelsior that 12 candidates filed their nominations today from six Assembly constituencies of the district taking the total number of candidates who filed their nominations form these constituencies to 16.
Lone said that from Pattan constituency two PDP candidates, Imran Ansari and Irfan Ansari sons of Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, filed their nomination papers today. The constituency was being represented by their father and PDP leader Iftikhar Hussain Ansari who passed away last month.
The DEO said that in Gulmarg constituency two PDP candidates Mohammad Abbas Wani and Abdul Aziz Dar filed their nomination papers. The constituency is being represented by Independent candidate Ghulam Hassan Mir.
Lone said that from Baramulla constituency that was being represented by PDP leader and Member Parliament, Muzaffar Beg, one independent candidate, Ashiq Ganai, filed his nomination papers today.
The DEO said that two Independent candidates, Mohammad Maqbool Mir and Mohammad Umar Dar, filed their nominations from Rafiabad constituency today. It is presently being represented by Javed Ahmad Dar of NC.
Lone said that from Sopore constituency Mohammad Maqbool Rather of BSP, Khazar Mohammad Gania, Independent, Nazir Ahmad Naikoo of PDP, Ghulam Hassan Lone, Independent, filed their nominations today.
The District Election Officer Budgam, Manzoor Ahmad Lone told Excelsior that two candidates filed their nomination papers from 5 Assembly constituencies of Budgam district today taking the total number of nominations to 5.
Lone said that Aga Ruhullah of National Conference who is seeking re-election filed his nomination papers today.

The DEO said that People’s Conference candidate, Dawood Khan Lodhi filed his nomination papers from Beerwah Assembly constituency today. The constituency is represented by the Dr Mohammad Shafi of PDP.
However, District Election Officer Pulwama, Sajjad Ahmad said that no candidate filed nomination papers from four Assembly constituencies of Pulwama district so far.
