According to the management of the shrine, the annual Urs will commence on June 7 and conclude on June 8 with a special Dua-e-Majlis.
Devotees from across J&K as well as other parts of the country are expected to attend the event.
Sajada Nasheen of Baba Nagri and Member Parliament, Mian Altaf Ahmad, said all necessary arrangements have been put in place to facilitate pilgrims arriving for the Urs.
“The Urs will begin on June 7 and conclude on June 8 with special prayers. A system is always in place for accommodating devotees and providing them food. People come here in thousands every year and we have never faced any difficulty in managing the arrangements,” he said.
He said the shrine’s facilities are capable of serving food to around 25,000 people at a time and that the management committee independently oversees the arrangements for the annual congregation.
“We have never sought any assistance from the Government for organising the Urs. The only request made is for uninterrupted power supply during the occasion. The management committee ensures all arrangements and devotees are properly taken care of,” Ahmad said.
He added that devotees travel to Baba Nagri from Rajouri, Poonch and other districts of J&K, while many followers also arrive from Punjab, Delhi and other parts of the country.
Meanwhile, member of the management, Mian Gulzar Ahmad, said devotees had already started arriving at Baba Nagri ahead of the Urs.
“People began reaching the shrine from June 5. Special arrangements have been made for accommodation, food and other facilities. The langar remains operational throughout the year, but additional arrangements are made during the Urs to cater to the large number of visitors,” he said.
“Last year, more than 1.5 lakh devotees attended the Urs and we expect the number to increase this year. Over the years, attendance has steadily grown and we have ensured adequate space and other facilities for the pilgrims,” he said.
The annual Urs commemorates the life and teachings of Hazrat Mian Nizam-ud-Din Kiyanvi (RA), the spiritual guide of Hazrat Mian Abdullah Larvi (RA).
The congregation is regarded as one of the major religious gatherings in the Kashmir Valley and attracts devotees from different regions every year.
