JAMMU, Feb 14: National Lok Adalat was held across the State at High Court, district and tehsil levels.
The National Lok Adalats were held for the cases under Sarfaesi ACT/Bank recovery cases and cases under Section 138 of NI Act.
The Adalats were held under the patronage of Justice NN Paul Vasanthakumar, Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Patron-in-Chief, J&K State Legal Services Authority and guidance of Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Judge, High Court of J&K and Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority.
As many as 1244 cases were disposed of by amicable settlement including 116 cases under NI Act. An amount of Rs 146276533 was recovered in bank recovery cases whileas Rs 53,280,900 was recovered in cases under Section 138 of NI Act.
A National Lok Adalat was held today in District Court Complex Janipur under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Jammu RS Jain in which two benches were constituted to take-up the matters of 138 NIA and Bank cases. The Bench comprising Additional District Judge Bank Cases Jammu and Special Mobile Magistrate (13th Finance Commission) took-up a total 180 cases of bank out of which 177 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 5, 79, 83, 299 was recovered from defaulted and another Bench Comprising Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr Sanjay Dhar and 3rd Additional Sessions Judge YP Kotwal took-up of 121 cases of NI Act (cheque bounce cases) out of which 20 cases were settled and Rs 7, 07, 900 was released as fine.
At Reasi, District Legal Services Authority organized National Lok Adalat under the chairmanship of KS Parihar, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Principal, District and Sessions Judge, Reasi. In the Lok Adalat out of 85 cases, 30 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 35,093,72 was recovered, two benches were constituted for settlement of cases.
At Ramban, National Lok Adalat was held in the district court complex Ramban under the chairmanship of Rajesh Sekhri, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority. A total of 213 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 40,77,568 was realized and paid to the claimants in recovery cases and an amount of Rs 42,48,412 was recovered in bank cases.
At Udhampur, National Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex under the chairmanship of RK Watel, Chairman, DLSA, Principal, District and Sessions Judge. A total of 30 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 2,98,000 was recovered.
At Samba, National Lok Adalat was held in District Court Complex under the chairmanship of Inder Singh, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority. A total of 90 cases were taken up out of which 57 cases were settled including 54 bank cases in which Rs 36,99,651 was awarded and a sum of Rs 2,27,200 was recovered on the spot.
At Kathua, National Lok Adalat was held in District Court Complex under the chairmanship of Chairman District Legal Services Authority VC Koul. National Lok Adalat comprised 2 benches. First bench was presided over by District and Session Judge VC Koul, and assisted by Additional District and Session Judge, Sonia Gupta and second bench comprised of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Deepak Sethi and District Mobile Magistrate, Dinesh Gupta. The first bench settled 89 bank cases and recovery to the tune of Rs 72,40,000 was awarded. The second bench settled 26 cases under section 138 of Negotiable Instrument Act.
At Anantnag, National Lok Adalat was organised at District Court Complex as well as in the subordinate courts of the District under the Supervision of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Anantnag Mohammad Akram Choudhary, who is also Principal District & Sessions Judge Anantnag. In the said Lok Adalat, 158 cases related to Post Bank/Under Section-138 NI Act were taken up out of which 30 cases were amicably settled and an amount of Rs 15,92,696 was recovered.
At Bandipora, National Lok Adalat was held during which 8 Bank cases including Section 138, Negotiable Instrument Act, Recovery Suits etc. (Pending and Pre-litigation matters) were amicably settled on the spot. An amount of Rs 5.45 lakh was also awarded under these bank cases taken up in the Lok Adalat. Principal District and Sessions Judge Bandipora, Puneet Gupta chaired the Lok Adalat at Bandipora Court Complex where Chief Judicial Magistrate Bandipora and Munsiff Bandipora assisted the cases. Similarly, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Sumbal, Fariqa Nazir presided over the Lok Adalat at Court Complex Sumbal where President Bar Association assisted the cases.
At Ganderbal, National Lok Adalat was held at Court Complex. Two Benches, comprising Principal District and Session Judge, Ajaz Ahmad Mir and Munsiff Judicial Magistrate Ganderbal, Tabasum and other comprising Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ajaz Ahmad Khan and Munsiff Judicial Magistrate, Muneer Ahmad Mir were constituted for disposal of the cases. As many as 25 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 37 lakh was recovered.
At Shangus, National Lok Adalat was held at Munsiff Court Complex under the chairmanship of Altaf Hussain Khan, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee Shangus. In the said Lok Adalat, 21 cases were taken up out of which 15 cases were settled amicably on spot in presence of concerned parties.
