RAJOURI, Mar 7: In a major anti-encroachment drive, a team of officers today retrieved over 12 kanals Government land and dismantled 13 illegal structures in Koteranka town.
The encroached land valuing over Rs 4.50 crore was retrieved after 6 hour long operation. Around 13 illegal structures razed on one kanal 11 marla land were also demolished. The prime land belonged to Sheep Husbandry and Auqaf Department.
The team was led by Addl DC, AS Chib along with huge contingent of police force and fleet of machines, started the operation at 11 am and removed the encroachment on the land by 5:30 pm. A total of 13 structures were removed which include 7 houses and 6 shops.
Earlier, a team of Revenue officers had demarcated the encroached land. Based on demarcation eviction notices were served to the occupants by the Addl DC.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against encroachers, while process to initiate disciplinary action was started against officials who failed to protect the prime Government property.
The operation was conducted under supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.
The district administration has planned similar drives in Rajouri, Kalakote, Darhal, Nowshera, Sunderbani and other areas to retrieve encroached State land. The departments have done preliminary mapping and demarcation to execute the drive.
