2 COVID-19 +ve persons die

SRINAGAR, June 25: Two COVID-19 positive persons today died in Kashmir taking the number of such deaths in Jammu and Kashmir to 91 while 116 persons tested positive for the virus in the Valley taking number of positive cases in J&K to 6549.
A 65 year old COVID-19 positive woman from Nasrullahpora village in district Budgam died this evening due to cardiopulmonary arrest in SKIMS Soura.   “She was admitted to the hospital on June 13  and was known case of HTN,CKD STAGE-III, with Sheehans syndrome,” doctors said.
She was admitted through emergency and then shifted to isolation ward after patient tested positive on June 14.
Earlier, two days after his death and subsequent burial, the sample of a 75-year-old man from Mehjoor Nagar Srinagar tested positive for the COVID-19 today. He was admitted to the hospital on June 22. His swab test was taken on the morning of June 22 while he died in the wee hours on June 23. The family had taken the body forcibly and buried it later.
So far, 91 COVID-19 positive people have died in J&K with 11 from Jammu division and 80 from the Valley. Srinagar district with 22 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla 13, Kulgam 11, Shopian 10, Budgam 7, Anantnag 6, Kupwara 5, Pulwama 4 while one death has been reported from Bandipora.
Among the cases, 69 tested positive at SKIMS hospital in Soura, 28 at Chest Diseases hospital Srinagar and 19 at SKIMS Medical College Bemina.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that out of 1472 samples were processed at the Viral Diagnostic Lab of the hospital today, 69 tested positive for the virus. They include 10 from 18th and 167 Battalions of CRPF based in Kulgam district, 16 each from Shopian and Kulgam, 12 from Srinagar, five from Ganderbal, four from Bandipora and three each from Baramulla and Anantnag.
Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina, told Excelsior that out of 516 samples processed at the hospital’s lab, 19 tested positive for COVID-19, 16 from Srinagar and three from Budgam.
An official said that 735 samples were processed at the CD hospital lab today and 27 tested positive. They include a 23-year-old soldier from BB Cant Srinagar and a policeman-45-year-old from DPL Baramulla, two pregnant women and a health worker.
Meanwhile, officials said that 110  more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals of Kashmir. As per officials, there are 2492 active positive cases—470 in Jammu and 2022 in Kashmir while 3967 have recovered while 91 others have died.
