JAMMU, Mar 12: Former Minister and Congress Legislator (MLC), Jugal Kishore Sharma, inviting attention of Government alleged that smooth functioning of about 1032 Government schools has been badly affected as all the six posts of Zonal Education Officers in the district were lying vacant since long.
“Do you have any fear of God, you have to reply Him, the Education mechanism is lying defunct in entire Reasi”, were the words full of anger and concern raised by the Congress member in the Upper House today in his Calling Attention Notice moved in the House today. He pointed out that posts of ZEOs in all the six Zones including Reasi, Pouni, Mahore, Chassana, Arnas and Chinka were lying vacant with the result more than 1032 Middle and Primary schools were getting affected.
Minister of State for School Education Feroz Ahmed Khan in his reply admitted that posts of Zonal Education Officers in all the six zones of district Reasi were lying vacant for which temporary arrangements have been made by assigning charge to ZEPOs, Principals and Lecturers of concerned Zones for the smooth functioning. In Reasi Zone the charge has been given to ZEPO Reasi, in Mahore and Chassana to ZEPO Mahore, in Pouni to Principal HSS Pouni, for zone Chinka to Principal HSS Panasa while for Arnas zone to a Lecturer of HSS Dharmari.
Mr Khan claimed that there was shortage of officers in the Education Department. The feeding cadre is Headmaster and equivalent. The department recently regularized Incharge Headmasters and equivalent. The process of updation of final seniority list of this cadre is under process and the same will be issued shortly. As and when the list is released, all the vacant posts will be filed up, he said.
