SRINAGAR, July 18: All Jammu and Kashmir 10+2 Lecturers Association today demanded assured career progression.
The president of the Association, Manzoor Ahmad, highlighted these demands during a press conference here today.
Manzoor said that the Government has repeatedly made promises with them but failed to deliver. “So far we have been getting hollow promises and nothing concrete has been done,” he said, adding if government fails to get stagnation abolished, they would call a pen-down strike.

He said that no placement has been made and strength of the lecturers was below par. “The Government has failed to upgrade the cadre from time to time and thousands of lecturers are waiting for up-gradation of services,” he said, adding that over 800- people having unrecognized degrees are being promoted as lecturers.
He added that by blocking the 50% quota of direct recruitment of +2 lecturers through JKPSC, the State Government has closed doors for unemployed and qualified youth. “This has created disillusionment among the youth,” he said.
He further said that the former cabinet had agreed to abolish SRO-202 to give a sigh of relief to thousands of lecturers. “But the order has not been implemented till date. The order needed to be implemented in the interest of quality education,” he said.
