UDHAMPUR, June 27: Police today recovered 10 kg of poppy straw from a truck at Roundomail, Udhampur and arrested two persons in this connection.
Based on a reliable information regarding smuggling of poppy straw, a police party led by SHO Udhampur, Inspector Vijay Choudhary, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Kulbir Handa, laid a naka at Roundomail and intercepted one truck bearing registration number PB 06F-9565. During thorough search of the vehicle, 10 kg of poppy straw was recovered.
Besides arresting driver of the truck, namely Sarabjeet Singh, son of Jagir Singh of Gurdaspur and his associate Tarsem Singh, son of Sadha Singh of Batala, Police also seized the recovered poppy straw as well as the truck.
In this connection, a case FIR Number 285/2018 u/s 8/15 NDPS act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation was going on.
