UDHAMPUR, July 2: Foiling bovine smuggling bid, police rescued 10 animals, which were brutally packed and concealed under the bags of wheat straw in a truck.
Police also arrested two bovine smugglers and seized the truck involved in the crime.
Acting on specific information, a Police party from Udhampur Police Station laid a naka near Sangoor bridge on the National Highway bypass road and intercepted a truck bearing registration number 6933-JK02AA, which was on way to Kashmir.
During the thorough search, the truck was found loaded with 10 bovine animals, which were brutally packed and concealed under the bags of wheat straw. Police rescued the animals and arrested both the smugglers, who were identified as Mohd Tariq of Gool Ramban and Muzami Ahmed of Lower Munda.
Police have also registered a case in this connection.
