SAMBA, Feb 17: Police filed 12 FIRs against landlords for not submitting tenant details as part of a verification drive across Samba district today.
A police official said that the initiative aimed at verifying tenants and domestic workers in the area.
According to him, four FIRs were lodged at Police Station Samba, three each at Police Stations Bari Brahmana and Ramgarh, and one each at Police Stations Vijaypur and Ghagwal.
The police official further said that the FIRs were filed under section 223 of the BNS.
Despite orders from the District Magistrate for police verification of tenants, several landlords failed to comply, prompting the police action, he said.
Meanwhile, in a statement, the SSP Samba has urged citizens to provide complete tenant and domestic worker details to their nearest police stations and ensure timely verification.
