Upgrading shrine infrastructure

In his regular meeting with the CEO and other senior officers of SMVDSB, the Governor, who is also the Chairman of the Board, took stock of infrastructural and developmental works that are underway at the holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra. Almost all items of infrastructural nature were brought under review and the Chairman issued instructions on each item after assessing the progress that has been made and what remains to be done. Significant among the projects underway is the passenger rope way between Bhawan and Bhairon temple. The prestigious project is expected to be completed and made functional in 2015. This will facilitate the pilgrims in saving time and physical labour and will naturally induce increase in the number of pilgrims to the holy shrine. Among other activities are various developmental works underway along the track leading to the holy shrine, installing of audio system along the 23 kilometer path and the proposal of relaying instructions through the system for the guidance and help of the pilgrims in Hindi and English languages, sewage treatment plants that would ensure cleanliness of the environs and non -pollution, and other works.
Pilgrims coming from distant places in the country to visit the holy shrine are satisfied that the arrangements for the pilgrimage are perfectly in place and they are not encountering any major difficulty in performing their religious obligations. This goes to the credit of the Shrine Board which has been taking its duty with all seriousness and earnestness. The Governor insists that projects must be completed on time as delay makes things complicated. The number of pilgrims has increased manifold and over a crore of pilgrims have been recorded annually for last one or two years. This is an indication that the number of pilgrims is likely to increase manifold in years to come and the Shrine Board should be well equipped to cope with this number.
