MLA announces compensation

KATHUA, Aug 19: Former Cabinet Minister and vice president of the J&K BJP, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, accompanied by BJP MLA of Jasrota, Rajiv Jasrotia, visited various flood and cloud burst-affected areas of the Kathua district today. They met with the affected families in the relief camps at the Ghatti Industrial area, where several families are temporarily located. The duo assessed the loss and assured full support from the party and the Government of India for proper relief, compensation and rehabilitation of the sufferers.
Chowdhary Zulfkar expressed deep shock and sorrow over the loss of human lives in the cloud burst and landslide tragedy. After interacting with the sufferers, he stated that the affected population has suffered huge losses, including belongings, residential houses, and livestock. He further emphasized that the affected individuals do not possess any land to rebuild their houses. Chowdhary Zulfkar demanded a comprehensive package for the sufferers and stressed the need to relocate the population to safer places.
He commended the role and concerns of the Home Minister of India, Amit Shah, during this natural calamity, as well as his full support to the LG administration and the UT Government. Click here to watch video
Chowdhary Zulfkar also appreciated the prompt action taken by the local police and civil administration in shifting the injured to hospitals in Pathankot and Kathua, as well as relocating the affected families to safer places to avoid further loss of lives.
MLA Jasrota, Rajiv Jasrotia, who has been at the forefront since the tragedy occurred, announced a contribution of Rs. 1 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased, Rs. 50,000 for the seriously injured, and Rs. 25,000 for the minor injured from his CDF. He assured every possible help for the rehabilitation of the affected population.
Several prominent individuals from the area, including retired senior officers, ex-Sarpanchs, and prominent citizens, accompanied the BJP leaders.
