JAMMU, Sept 15: In a bid to ensure that the consumers get high quality flour, rice and sugar from the ration depots, Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today convened a high level meeting with the officers of the Food Corporation of India and CA&PD Department.
Acting on the complaints regarding the quality of wheat, the Minister directed the officers to take up the matter with the Union Ministry and convey that the state be provided ration of standard quality by the FCI.
He said that as far as the lifting of ration is concerned, the FCI should give priority to the state over private mills. He said that a multiplex will be constructed in place of CA&PDD store at Warehouse and revenue generated from there will be used for modernizing the stores of the department and for maintaining quality of ration in the state.
The Minister asked the officers of the FCI to establish mandies at the rice producing areas of Jammu including Samba, R.S. Pura and Kathua and procure high quality rice from these areas.
Mr. Zulfkar directed the officers of the Department of CA&PD to ensure that no supervisor stays in a particular mill for a period of more than one month so that corrupt practices can be brought to an end.
The meeting was attended by Director CA&PDD G S Chib, General Manager FCI Jammu Kishore Kumar, Joint Director CA&PD Mansoor Aslam, Deputy Director (Supplies) Atam Dev Singh, Deputy Director CA&PDD K Syed Khan and other senior officers.
