Zulfkar directs CAPD officers to intensify field visits

SRINAGAR, July 21: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) and Tribal Affairs, Ch. Zulfkar Ali today directed the officers of the CA&PD Department to intensify field visits to ensure that the supply of essential commodities reaches to the people living in far-flung areas as per the fixed time schedule.
The Minister was addressing a review meeting held here today which was attended by Commissioner Secretary, CA&PD, Directors of Kashmir and Jammu, besides other officers.
The meeting took various decisions to further improve the functioning of the department at grass root level.
The Minister directed constitution of a Committee to maintain uniform ration scale. A committee headed by Special Secretary, CA&PD will conduct area wise survey for requirement of consumers and submit the report within a week’s time.
The meeting also took various other decisions including creation of Legal Cell, computerization and digitization of ration cards, constituting of Committee for grinding of wheat, etc.
The Minister stressed for utilization of quality equipment kits in all godowns to ensure quality control. He also directed for holding of physical verification of godowns regularly.
