Zila Sainik Welfare Board meets

SAMBA, May 10: A meeting of Zila Sainik Welfare Board was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Samba, R.K Varma.
Zila Sainik Welfare Board Officer, Colonel K.B Gupta, presented a brief resume of functioning of the Board.
It was informed that the Sainik Welfare Board is formed to look after the welfare of all personnel of Armed Forces from the State both serving and retired. The Board is also responsible for implementation of various programmes for the welfare and settlement of ex-servicemen, their dependents and war widows.
He also presented Action Taken Report of last Board meeting and presented agenda points for this meeting.
The meeting discussed several important issues like compensation to land owners for mine laying and land ahead of fence, re-survey of BPL families, cleanliness of water tanks, proper functioning of lights in the town as well as in the Vir Bhoomi Park, problem of soil erosion due to mining of sand and stones, operationalization of new bus stand Samba and encroachment problems in the market etc.
The DDC assured that all possible efforts will be made to address issues raised by the members regarding the welfare of ex-servicemen, war widow, pensioners & non-pensioners.
The meeting among others was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police Kaushal Kumar Sharma, Chief Planning Officer Sant Ram, Assistant Commissioner Development, Mohammad Farooq  Bhat, district level officers  and the members of the Sainik Board.
