JAMMU, May 10: The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu today organized its Annual Campus Sports Day-cum-Prize Distribution Function at the University Sports Stadium, here today.
Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest, while Lida Singh, the First Lady of the Campus, was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Ishar, said that the Annual Campus Sports Day should be of two days event and students other than the sportspersons should be encouraged to participate in it.
The prizes were awarded to the winner and runners-up teams of PG Departments in different games which were conducted during the last year.
In addition to the above, the Track Suits were awarded to the players of PG Departments who had represented the University in the various Inter-University Tournaments and Competitions during the year 2012-13.
Athletic and allied events which included Tug of war, etc were conducted on the occasion. for the entertainment of the guests.
Rajasthani Folk Dances and Punjabi Bhangra Gidha were also presented by the students of JK College of Education and MC Khalsa College of Education, Jammu.
Earlier, Prof Dhian S Bhau, Chairman, Campus Sports Committee, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu delivered the welcome address.
Dr Sonam Angchok, PTI Campus presented the vote of thanks, while the proceedings of the programme were conducted by Nisha Sharma.
The event was managed by Dr Brij Baloria, Romesh Sharma, Volleyball Coach, Romesh Magotra, Table-Tennis Coach, Physical Education and PD Singh, Jai Bharat, Raj Kumar.
