Zanskar Muslim Association calls on Governor

JAMMU, Mar 25: A deputation of the Muslim Association Zanskar called on Governor N. N. Vohra, at Raj Bhavan here today and presented to him a memorandum of their demands.
The demands presented by the 5-member deputation led by Nazar Mohammad, President of the Association, included, conduct of a judicial enquiry into the incident that took place at Padum, Zanskar, on 23rd September, 2012, and providing adequate relief to the affected families.
After hearing the deputationists, the Governor observed that the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir will be asked to direct urgent measures to ensure normalcy in the area. He stressed that peace, harmony and normalcy are essential pre-requisites for development and progress.
Recalling that Jammu and Kashmir is known for its glorious pluralistic ethos, where people from different religions and faiths have lived together in perfect harmony for centuries past, the Governor emphasized the need for strengthening communal harmony and brotherhood to make Jammu and Kashmir a frontline developed State of the country.
The deputation comprised Haji Sikandar Khan, Haji Ahmadullah, Riyaz Ahmad and Shamas-ud-Din.
Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor, was present on the occasion.
