JAMMU, Apr 2: Zang Trai –the ladies festival, falling on third of Navratra was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety today.
In this connection functions were organised at different places which were attended by large number of ladies.
On the occasion of Zang Trai an impressive function was organized by K P Sabha at Ambphalla in which chairperson of Social Welfare Board, Khem Lata Wakhloo was the chief guest.
A melodious musical show was presented by Papu Raj and Party who mesmerized the participants.
Santosh Prairna recited some bhajans and poems on the occasion.
The proceedings were conducted by S L Bhagati general secretary of the Sabha who also read the welcome address.
Sabha president, K K Khosa while greeting the women folk on this auspicious day said Sabha is always open to serve the community and no one should hesitate to approach it for any help if required.
In her address Khem Lata Wakhloo wished all a prosperous year. She also greeted the community ladies and appealed them to participate in all spheres and show their powers. She said the KP ladies should take initiative in framing social policies and assert for the need to inculcate the spirit of collective reforms.

Another function was organized by ASKPC in which Dulari Ji Bhan was the chief guest while ASKPC chief H L Chatta, T K Gigyasoo and Mrs Veenaji Vaishnavi were the guests of honour.
The function was presided over by Rubi Matoo, secretary Women Wing.
Congratulating the community women on the occasion, Chatta said Zang Trai is considered a good omen for the New Year. Highlighting the role of ASKPC, he said it has always acted as parental home to community women.
Dulari Ji became nostalgic about the celebrations of the day in Kashmir prior to mass exodus. She however complimented the ASKPC for celebrating the day and discharging parental responsibilities for community women. Bushan Lal Bhat Ex-MLC also spoke the occasion while stage was conducted by Subash Chatta.
Another function was organized by Bhagawaan Gopinathji Trust at Bhagawaan Ji’s Ashram at Udaywala Bohri in which Santosh Shah Nadan a well known Bhakti poetess was the chief guest. The introductory lecture was given by M K Tikoo. A large number of ladies attended the function who paid their obeisance under the lotus feet of Bhagawaan Ji.
Ravi Bhan, Aarti Razdan, Darmesh Nargotra, Naina Saproo, Iqbal Koul and Krishan Ji Langoo presented melodious devotional songs on the occasion.
Dr Sushil Wattal threw light on the significance of Zang Trai. S K Turki presented a token of traditional gift to the ladies present.
KPC also organized a function at Rohni, New Delhi to celebrate Zang Trai, in which a large number of KP ladies were present. KPC president Kundan Kashmiri while speaking on the occasion said that ladies have power to transform the society and bring a social change in the community.
A grand function was organized in Sanjeevni Sharda Kendra Anand Nagar Bohri Jammu in connection with the celebration of “Zangtrai”. Eminent writer Sh. Upinder Ambardar was the chief guest. Poshker Nath Raina a social activist presided over the function.
A large number of “Matra Shakti” participated in the function. Bajans & Kirtans were also performed on this occasion.
A photo Pradrashni of Kashmiri festivals installed by a social activist Bindraban Shar was also made available on the occasion which was highly praised by the gathering.
