‘BJP demolishing history of Dogras’

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Dec 29: While cautioning the Union Government to stop discrimination against Jammu people, Yuva Rajput Sabha has demanded Gazetted holiday on the Birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh.
Talking to the media-persons here today, patron Rajinder Manhas and chairman of the Sabha, Raghubir Singh expressed strong resentment over the new calendar issued by the Lt Governor’s Administration. They pointed out that Government declared holiday on the Accession Day and not on the Birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh- the last ruler of the Dogra Dynasty.
They pointed out that it is the strong and popular demand of the people from the Jammu region but the Union Government ignored it. They said the fore fathers of Maharaja Hari Singh owned this state by paying Rs 75 lakh to the British Government and other maintenance charges. It is unfortunate that BJP Government has been ignoring the sentiments of the Dogras from Jammu region and they are facing discrimination on all the fronts. They have taken the people from Jammu region for granted.
The Yuva Rajput Sabha leaders further alleged that Jammu people are being considered as 2nd class citizens. Jammu people gave massive mandate to the BJP but their hopes are being dashed to the ground. Even Dr Jitendra Singh (MP) who is at very strong position in PMO has failed to provide justice to the people of Jammu. The people had high hopes on him but now feeling cheated. They alleged that BJP is hell bent to demolish the rich history of Dogras. There is strong resentment among the people of Jammu against BJP and they will teach this party a lesson at appropriate time, the Sabha leaders asserted.
They claimed that Rajput Sabha would continue to fight for the cause. They appealed to the Lt Governor, G C Murmu to declare holiday on the Birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh or get ready to face long agitation.
Senior Sabha members- Ranjeet Singh, Shamsher Singh, Mandeep Singh and Rajeev Singh also accompanied.
