YRS protest for holiday demand on Maharaja’s anniversary continues

JAMMU, Aug 30: The indefinite protest demonstration by Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) continued here today near Maharaja Hari Singh’s statue on Tawi Bridge for the demand of holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh.
The protesters claimed that BJP led previous government had promised the holiday but failed to do so.
Meanwhile, the chain hunger strike by YRS activists entered day 8 today to press the authorities for the demand.
YRS activists on hunger strike today were Rajan Singh Happy, president YRS; Surinder Singh Gilli, ex-president YRS; Mukesh Singh, sr. vice president; Vishal Singh and Sumit Singh-both vice presidents and Bhanu Partap Singh.
YRS president told reporters that the holiday on September 23 on birth anniversary of Maharaja is linked with the sentiments of J&K people.
Surinder Singh Gilli expressed hope that authorities may look into their demand else the agitation will be intensified.
EkJutt Jammu, Dastey Maadatghar, Rashtriy Hindu Vahini, students of GGM Science College and other organisations also extended support to YRS protest.
