SAMBA, Sept 21: The dead body of a youth was who drowned in the Basanter river near Nud area of Samba district was recovered after 20 hours of hard work this afternoon.
The drowned youth identified as Abhishek Singh, son of Ganesh Singh, resident of Jandor, Lakhanpur, Kathua, who had visited his maternal uncle’s house in a nearby village drowned in the river where he had gone to take a bath yesterday.

His body was fished out this afternoon by the jawans of J&K Police and Disaster Management with there hectic efforts’ since yesterday as it was trapped in the whirlpool.
Police conducted post mortem of the dead body and handed it over to the family for last rites. The police has also registered a case under relevant sections of the law and the matter is being investigated.
