SKIMS resumes services as cases decline

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Feb 1: Nine persons died of COVID-19 and 2751 tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir today while 125 fresh cases were reported from the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Four casualties and 1105 new cases were registered in Jammu division while five fatalities and 1646 positives were recorded in Kashmir valley.
Thirteen persons from Katra Railways and three from Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Bantalab tested positive for the virus in Jammu today.
Thirty pilgrims of holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji also tested positive for pathogen on their arrival at Katra Railway Station.
A 25-year-old youth hailing from village Chilly in Gandoh area of Doda district, who had chest and head injuries after fall and was under treatment at the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, died today. he tested positive for pathogen.
A 57-year-old woman from village Pagariwalla in Pallanwalla area of Jammu succumbed to the virus at Fortis Escorts Hospital Amritsar.
A 70-year-old fully vaccinated man from Pandori Brahmana in Bishnah area of Jammu district died of co-morbidities and COVID-19 at ASCOMS Sidhra while another 70-year-old man, who was partially vaccinated but was co-morbid, died in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu. He was a resident of Mairan Mandrian in Jammu.
Four fresh casualties have taken COVID toll in Jammu division to 2289 including 1208 in Jammu district, 245 Rajouri, 162 Kathua, 144 Udhampur, 142 Doda, 122 Samba, 107 Poonch, 69 Ramban and 45 each in Kishtwar and Reasi districts.
Among 1105 new cases, 561 were reported from Jammu district, 149 Ramban, 96 Udhampur, 86 Samba, 74 Doda, 44 Kathua, 32 Reasi, 31 Poonch, 21 Rajouri and 11 in Kishtwar district.
As against 1105 cases, 1691 persons recovered from the virus leaving number of active positive cases in Jammu division to 8989.
District Magistrate Jammu Anshul Garg today permitted operation of dhabas/eateries and canteens at Bus Stand, Railway Station, Airport and along the National Highways and home delivery of goods and services during weekend COVID restrictions on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 125 fresh cases of Coronavirus including 68 in Leh district and 57 in Kargil.
Ladakh now has 1087 active positive cases.
Meanwhile, as the COVID-19 positive cases have shown decline for the last few days, the SKIMS has ordered resumption of non-COVID services.
The SKIMS, Soura as well as SKIMS, MC Bemina today ordered the resumption of non-COVID services.
In an order, MS of SKIMS Soura said that in the interest of patient care and keeping in view plateauing of COVID wave in Kashmir, it is hereby ordered that the functioning of SKIMS OPD will resume from February 2.
SKIMS, MC Bemina said that Non-emergency OPD services shall start from February 3 in 5 specialities not involved in COVID care.
The specialities include Dermatology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dentistry and Psychiatry.
The authorities said that the order has been issued following the directions of the Additional Chief Secretary, Health & Medical Education passed in the COVID review meet held on 31st January 2022.
The Medical Superintendent and Heads of the Department of the aforementioned specialities have been directed to ensure that while providing such services, appropriate COVID protocols should be followed under all circumstances.
“It is further reiterated that the services should be provided in the detached OPD complex which should be completely cut off from the Indoor COVID operations currently being provided in this Hospital,” SKIMS, Bemina said.
In the meantime, Kashmir today reported 5 COVID death deaths and 1,646 tested positive.
With five deaths, J&K toll has reached 4,683. All those who died today were comorbid.
Those who tested positive include 440 from Srinagar, 136 from Baramulla, 177 from Budgam, 45 from Pulwama, 405 from Kupwara, 108 from Anantnag, 30 from Bandipora, 59 from Ganderbal, 209 from Kulgam and 37 Shopian.
The number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached 279,593 including 253,630 recoveries and 2,394 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 32,558 including 23,569 from Kashmir division.
With 6,556 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 400,935 which is 91.50 percent of the total cases.
