MENDHAR, Mar 14: A youth, impersonating as CID officer and black-mailing a Ist Class Magistrate (Naib Tehsildar), was nabbed by police from the main bazaar here today.
The accused has been identified as 25-year-old Mohd Hafiz, son of Faqar Din, resident of Nuna Bandi in Poonch. The youth was black-mailing Naib Tehsildar Harni Mohd Kabir for the last 2-3 days that he had some information against his wrong doings and will file report against him. Upon this, he called Magistrate to a tea-stall at Mendhar town and settled a deal. As he was accepting money from the officer, the police party led by SHO Bishnesh Kumar under the supervision of SDPO nabbed the impersonator.
After questioning, he described him as Army officer and then a reporter from an unpopular Urdu TV Channel. But he turned out to be a simple matriculate and noted ‘cheat’, harassing Government employees and extorting money from them. A fake press card was also recovered from him. The police registered a case against him and started investigation.
