KATHUA, Apr 10: A youth was injured after he was attacked by other community group members in Mahesh Chak area here today.
As per reports, a youth identified as Ganesh Kumar, a resident of Mahesh Chak was injured after being attacked by other community group members over cattle grazing issue.
The injured has been shifted to hospital in Hiranagar, where he was responding to the treatment, when last reports came in.
When police team reached the spot to arrest the attackers, the cops were attacked by the mob and also pelted stones and damaged a police vehicle.
As the villagers and family members of the injured came to know about the attack, they also rushed to the spot and alleged that other community members use to graze their cattle in their fields during night hours. “Our standing crops are being damaged due to grazing of the cattle by the other community members”, they added.
As situation turned violent, a team from District Administration led by Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Yadav along with SSP Kathua RC Kotwal rushed to the spot and called a meeting of both the communities to defuse the tension.
SDM Hiranagar, SDPO border, SHO Rajbagh, DDC Member Karan Kumar, Sarpanch Ravi Kumar and Panchayat numbers were also present during the meeting.
After listening to members of both the communities, it was decided that a committee including the Panchyat members and prominent villagers will be constituted to ascertain the exact fact behind the clash.
Later, members of both the communities dispersed peacefully.
