Youth Congress holds protest

KATHUA, Jan 25: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress held a protest demanding resignations of Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani and Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya for their role in the unfortunate incident of suicide of Rohith Vemula.
The protest was led by Dr Uma Shankar Pandey, National Secretary IYC and Incharge J&K Youth Congress and Pranav Shagotra, President PYC.
Amid slogans, the protestors burnt the effigy of Smriti Irani.
While speaking, Dr Uma Shanker Pandey lambasted the Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani and Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya for their alleged role in the suicide case of a Dalit scholar of Hyderabad University.
He said that Smriti Irani misrepresented the facts in order to mislead the nation over the issue which is evident by the resignation of team of Professors from their administrative posts, to protest over the ‘fabricated’ statements of Irani.
Pranav Shagotra said that Dattatreya should be booked by Hyderabad police for abetment of suicide and also for violation of the SC/ST Atrocities Act in the Rohith Vermula suicide case.
Shagotra said that PYC will continue to raise the issues of public concerned at all levels and fight for the cause of general public.
