Notorious drug peddler held with heroin

JAMMU, Jan 25: Police arrested a notorious drug peddler along with heroin worth several thousands from Patel Nagar Bagh area, falling under the jurisdiction of Nowabad police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team laid a naka near Patel Nagar and arrested a notorious drug peddler along with 2 grams heroin worth several thousands.
The accused has been identified as Akash Mantu alias Kaashi, son of Varinder Kumar, a resident of Hazoori Bagh.
He used to bring the consignment of drugs from neighbouring States and later distribute it among the youth in Talab Tillo and nearby areas to make them drug addicts.
With the arrested of the accused, police has achieved a major success to prevent the youths from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 11/16 under Section Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at Nowabad police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nowabad police station Inspector Ravinder Singh Rakwal and Incharge Talab Tillo police post SI Rahul Mahajan made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO City West Sandeep Choudhary, SP City North Vinod Kumar and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
