Youth Cong takes out protest rally in favour of 6th Schedule

LEH, Dec, 11: Demanding 6th Schedule for Ladakh UT to protect land, job, identity and economy, District Youth Congress (DYC) took out a protest rally in Leh town here today.
The rally, led by DYC president Advocate Dorjay Gyaltsan started from Old Bus Stand to culminate at main bazaar where various Youth Congress leaders addressed the gathering.
DYC president Gyaltsan said that Ladakh MP, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal failed to raise the important issue of 6th Schedule in Parliament forcing Youth Congress to come out on streets to project this demand. He informed that Congress will file a petition in the Parliament signed by all those favouring 6th Schedule to Ladakh and in this regards senior leaders led by party president Tsering Namgyal rushed to Delhi. He also claims to have support of all Congress MPs over demands of 6th Schedule for Ladakh.

Thanking all participants for having concern for future Ladakh by participating in the rally, Youth Mahila Congress president Advocate Eshey Lhamo said that UT was given out of compulsion just to solve the Kashmir issue after scraping article 370 and 35A. She added that UT is useless without having safeguard for Ladakhi’s land, job and economy.
DYC general secretary Tundup Norboo said that inspite of having 95% tribal population in Ladakh, Union Government is not granting 6th Schedule to Ladakh whereas, even 50% tribal population can get 6th Schedule thus it totally injustice towards Ladakhis. He also sought help from all Ladakhis to sign a petition to be filed to demand of 6th Schedule.
Youth leader from Bogdang Mohd Issa said that protection of land, environment and job is important for Ladakhis otherwise, there will be huge challenge to safeguard it. He also expressed his anguish over Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal’s statement regarding Citizens Amendment Bill during an interview in a debate.
