The marathon, themed “Nashe Ke Khilaf Sangram – Say, No to Drugs,” aims to mobilize youth participation in fitness activities while spreading awareness against substance abuse across the Union Territory. The event will be held with free entry, and registrations have been opened with limited slots available.
Several celebrity sportspersons and internationally renowned players will be participating in the marathon. Indian Youth Congress National president Uday Bhanu Chib will also take part in the meeting. As per the Direction of IYC Incharge Manish Sharma, IYC president Uday Bhanu Chib and IYC secratary Maan Singh Rathore, the event is being organised in Jammu.
Addressing media persons, the youth leaders shared details of the event and urged youth, students, athletes, and fitness enthusiasts to participate in large numbers. It was informed that the marathon will carry a prize pool of up to Rs 3,00,000, along with medals and certificates for all finishers. The event will have three race categories – 5 KM (Run for Fun) for beginners and young runners, 10 KM (Fitness Freak) for regular fitness enthusiasts, and 21 KM Half Marathon for professional and endurance runners. Participants from all age groups, including Under-16, Open, and 40+ categories, can compete, and the same prize structure will apply for both boys and girls.
The Youth Congress stated that the initiative is not only a sporting event but also a social campaign to encourage a healthy lifestyle and fight the growing menace of drugs among youth in Jammu & Kashmir.
Anirudh Sawhney said the marathon is designed as a mass public awareness drive rather than merely a competition, and the message “Say No to Drugs” will be carried across Jammu through youth participation.
The Youth Congress requested interested participants to register at the earliest through the official registration system and join the movement for a healthier, drug-free Jammu & Kashmir.
