Youth carrying bovine animal dies in attack

RAJOURI, June 22: A youth carrying bovine animal in a vehicle died in hospital after he was attacked by a group of people near Muradpur on Jammu-Rajouri highway last night.
Official sources said that the incident took place when one Ajaz Dar, son of Mohd Afzal Dar, resident of Rajdhani (Thanamandi), was carrying a bovine animal in a Tata Mobile vehicle towards Rajouri last night. He was coming from Nowshera side. At Muradpur, a group of people noticed cattle loaded in the vehicle and started pelting stones.
Ajaz sustained serious head injuries in the attack and was later shifted to Rajouri hospital by police. The unknown attackers, however, escaped from the spot. The injured youth was later shifted to GMC Hospital, Jammu where he succumbed to injuries.
The death of youth evoked strong protest at Thannamandi and Rajouri. A group of people led by family members of the deceased met DC and SSP Rajouri and demanding action against the attackers. The officers assured action in this regard. The police has registered a case FIR No. 408/2021 at Police Station Rajouri in this connection. Further, investigation was in progress.
