It has reference to the news “Centre should take responsibility if youths pick up gun: Mehbooba” published in this paper on September 5, 2015.
The father-daughter duo of Mufti is creating a new history by accusing India of the evils sponsored by Pakistan and crediting Pakistan of the positive developments in the state. Memory is not short lived to forget that Mehbooba Mufti’s father and CM of J&K Mufti Mohd Sayeed had credited Pakistan, separatists and the militants for allowing peaceful Assembly elections in the state. And now Mehbooba has laid the responsibility of the youth taking up guns at the door steps of India. What a paradox!
In fact, the credit of conducting peaceful election in the state goes to the Indian establishment, security agencies, state administration and the common masses, who failed any attempt of the enemy to sabotage the election. But the senior Mufti claimed otherwise for obvious political reasons to address the constituency of separatists and company. Mehbooba Mufti has now made a ridiculous attempt to exonerate Pakistan of producing Jihadists in J&K. Mehbooba Mufti cannot hoodwink the international community by such claims as the reasons of terrorism in the state are too obvious to hide. Mehbooba has claimed poverty as the reason for youth to pick up guns. For argument sake if we believe her, who is responsible for the poverty. If statistical data is any indication, Indian establishment has been generous enough to provide funds to the state. It is the local Government that allowed the misuse of the funds. To add to it, this very political class contributed in projecting India as an enemy. In the name of rehabilitation, terrorists and stone pelters were employed gainfully at the cost of the innocents. As such terrorism became a tool to get employment. As Centre failed to see through these machinations and contributed to the Surrender Policy, it cannot escape responsibility on that account.
To conclude, it is high time for the Indian state to rebutt such accusations, understand machinations and discourage terrorism and separatism by strangulating these tendencies.
