One death, 22 cases in Ladakh

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, June 18: Eight persons died of COVID-19-four each in Jammu and Kashmir divisions and 671 tested positive for the virus today in J&K while one Corona casualty and 22 fresh cases were reported in Ladakh.
Among four casualties across Jammu region, three were women while fourth one was a youth. Two fatalities were reported from Doda district and one each in Jammu and Poonch districts.
A 25-year-old youth hailing from village Sarore near Bishnah died of COVID-19 at Amandeep Hospital Pathankot.
A 46-year-old woman from Kandoot Thathri and 78-year-old female of Gundana Ghat, both in Doda district succumbed to the virus in the Government Medical College (GMC) Doda.
An 85-year-old woman from Dhargloon in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district passed away due to Coronavirus in the GMC Rajouri.
Four casualties have taken Corona toll in the Jammu region to 2062. Highest 1119 deaths have been registered in Jammu district followed by 212 in Rajouri, 149 Kathua, 131 Udhampur, 118 Samba, 104 Doda, 87 Poonch, 60 Ramban, 42 Reasi and 40 in Kishtwar district.
Among 226 fresh cases in Jammu today, 53 were reported from Jammu district, 46 Doda, 36 Ramban, 24 Rajouri, 20 Kishtwar, 16 Poonch, 12 Kathua, 11 Udhampur, six Reasi and two in Samba district.
As against 226 cases, 548 persons recovered from the virus today, the maximum 161 in Jammu district, 91 Ramban, 89 Poonch, 51 Udhampur, 48 Rajouri, 33 Reasi, 32 Doda, 16 each in Kathua and Samba and 11 in Kishtwar district.
Jammu region now has 1,17,980 Corona cases. Among them 3543 are active positives as 1,12,375 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2061 casualties.
Meanwhile, one person died of COVID-19 and 22 tested positive in the Union Territory of Ladakh today.
A 63-year-old man from Chuchot Leh, presently putting up at Bagh-e-Khomeini in Kargil district died of pathogen.
Of 22 new cases, 11 each were reported from Leh and Kargil districts.
Fresh cases have taken Corona count in Ladakh to 19704 including 482 active positives, 19022 recoveries and 200 deaths including 143 in Leh and 57 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir reported 445 fresh cases of COVID-19 while four persons succumbed to the virus.
Srinagar reported 133 cases, Baramulla 66, Budgam 60, Pulwama 34, Kupwara 42, Anantnag 24, Bandipora 33, Ganderbal 20, Kulgam 29 and Shopian 4.
As per officials figures, 68,895 positive cases including 815 deaths and 66,448 recoveries are from Srinagar, 22,953 including 276 deaths and 21,896 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,182 including 21,169 recoveries and 200 deaths are from Budgam, 14,624 including 13,456 recoveries and 185 deaths are from Pulwama, 13,502 including 158 deaths and 12,696 recoveries are from Kupwara, 15,717 including 14,921 recoveries and 195 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,108 cases including 8,670 and 98 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,381 including 9,040 recoveries and 76 deaths are from Ganderbal, 10,820 including 10,309 recoveries and 111 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,526 including 5,380 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 192,708 including 183,985 recoveries and 2,172 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 10,094 including 6,551 from Kashmir division.
With 1,171 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 296,360, which is 95.39 percent of the total cases.
